Uncle Brian is a dark comedic tragedy about Brian, a teenager who seizes the day by the throat, but blithely disregards the responsibility that is the flip side of freedom. His life is a hands-free ride on a broken-down roller coaster; a dirty, sloppy mess of sex, violence and alienation. When scandalous accusations and violent threats turn his whacko world further awry, Brian discovers the downside of burning bridges - and that sometimes saying you're sorry just isn’t enough.

Congratulations to Daniel MacLean upon winning the best actor award at the New York City International Film Festival

18/08/10

The Uncle Brian premiere at the New York City International Film Festival was a great success.

Uncle Brian and Daniel MacLean have been nominated for best picture and best actor of the festival respectively. Congratulations to all involved.

Brian – Daniel Maclean

Daniel Maclean

Brian is an uncouth but charming teenage alcoholic who is too clever for his own good. Eclipsing most of his peers with his intelligence, Brian believes he is superior to everyone both intellectually and socially – feeling that he doesn’t need to follow the same rules and order that run the rest of the world.

Tim – Danny MacDonald

Danny MacDonald

Tim is Brian’s best friend who has a blind loyalty towards him regardless of his actions.  He is an active member of the cadets and prides himself with the discipline he applies to his day to day lifestyle.  Tim is also a deeply repressed misogynist who disapproves of the female relationships Brian carries.

Jen – Nicole Tiraborelli

Nicole Tiraborelli

Jen is a shy girl who is drawn to Brian but is heavily influenced by her parents in her life decisions.  Against everyone’s will and advice, she feels a connection to Brian and sees something deeper in him than the charming front he puts on to the rest of the world. While she is attracted to Brian, she is wary of his ways and reluctant to get too close to him unless he cleans up his act.

Kim – Sarah Spencer

Sarah Spencer

Kim is Brian’s older sister, and she has recently become accidentally pregnant. Despite her situation, she tries her best to keep a positive spin on things and is the only person who can see through her brothers superficial tactics.

Christine – Tracy Genrich-Mitchell

Tracy Genrich-Mitchell

Christine, Tim’s mother, is a recent divorcee who is trying to turn her life around by taking pride in being an independent woman. Unbeknownst to her son, she is having a secret affair with Brian.

Paul – Farhang Ghajar

Farhang Ghajar

Paul is a relaxed stoner who pays Brian to do his homework for him. Paul comes off as very lazy and stupid to his elders but carries a deeper intelligence when he feels passionate about something that not even Brian picks up on.

Irene – Lisa Ferretti

Lisa Ferretti

Irene is Brian and Kim’s mother who maintains only a superficial relationship with her kids. As a single mother, she is a workaholic who has little to no time to spend with her children, although she prides herself in being a good provider.

Alex M. White – Greg White

Greg White

Mr. White is a youth social worker who grudgingly puts on a façade of dedicating his life to troubled teens. Not fully satisfied with his career path, Mr. White isn’t afraid to take out his aggression on those that don’t give him the respect he believes he deserves.

Dave – Ryan Lindsay

Ryan Lindsay

Dave is Jen’s over-protective older brother who can’t stand Brian being anywhere near his sister. After hearing rumors about Brian and his sister, Dave has no time for anything Brian has to say and will keep the two of them separated by any means necessary.

Mr. P – Rich Piatkowski

Rich Piatkowski

Mr. P is a high school calculus teacher who believes math is an art form and way of life. Mr. P feels that the history of calculus is just as important as the practice and spends time in his lectures expressing this in a way that makes watching paint dry seem entertaining.
